Kira helps a group split a restaurant bill: the person who paid photographs the receipt, shares one link, and everyone taps what they had. This page explains what Kira keeps and why. Kira is a small personal project, run in Malaysia, and it is in testing.

Kira never touches money

Friends pay the person who paid the bill directly, with their own bank or e-wallet. Kira only shows who owes what.

Who can see a bill

Anyone who has the bill's link can see it: the items, who tapped what, everyone's share, the receipt photo and the payment details. That is how the group splits it, so only share the link with the people at the table. Bill links are long and random, and are kept out of search engines.

Usage and error information

To find out where people get stuck, Kira records anonymous usage: which screens were opened, how long they stayed on screen, which buttons were tapped, and whether something failed. This uses a random code for your browser, not your name, phone number, email, amounts or IP address. If something breaks, an error report is sent to Sentry with bill links and phone numbers removed.

Services Kira uses

Kira has no ads and does not sell or share your information for marketing.

Keeping and deleting

Bills are kept so the group can come back to them. To have your bills, your account, or your name on a bill deleted, or to ask what Kira holds about you, email jeremykiuwx@gmail.com. You can also ask for this under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act.
